Dulany Industries Powers Up SeaPoint Solar Project

In 2012, the SeaPoint Solar Project began with Reed Dulany of Dulany Industries and Marc Weinreich of the Greenfield Environmental Trust Group casting a vision to transform an overgrown former landfill into a symbol of green energy and sustainable development.  The landfill was used by the City of Savannah prior to the industrial development of the site and its footprint comprises only a very small section of the large SeaPoint site which Dulany is redeveloping into a multi-use industrial terminal complex.

The project faced early challenges when in 2013, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) issued a report indicating that the project would not be economically feasible due to the cost of clearing and preparing the landfill area to construct a solar facility.

Committed to fulfilling their mission of rehabilitating and converting the land, countless community and corporate partners rallied behind this shared vision to bring a solar farm to the east side of Savannah. Through the sustained efforts and substantial contributions of multiple parties including Dulany Industries, the Greenfield Environmental Trust Group, Hannah Solar, Georgia Power, the City of Savannah, Georgia EPD, Terracon Consultants, and Triplett Construction, the solar facility is now a reality.

The completed site includes nearly 4,000 solar panels located on five acres. SeaPoint Solar Project is capable of generating 1.2 Million Watts of electricity, enough electricity to power almost 700 homes during peak production hours and about 240 homes in the Chatham County area over the course of a year.
