Where Innovation Meets Industry

Commitment to Sustainability

Our company’s core values of respect, humility, trustworthiness, and fairness directly influence our approach to sustainability. We value our world’s natural resources and seek to improve the ways we conserve and protect them as an industrial enterprise.

Southern States Chemical: Power of Waste Steam

The Southern States Chemical plant located at SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex features a steam-driven turbo generator set that creates 2.5 MW of power, allowing the entire manufacturing facility to operate virtually electricity-neutral.

Southern States’ Wilmington plant takes a different approach to utilize the waste steam, allowing a neighboring company to purchase the steam byproduct, as opposed to burning natural gas to make their own.  By using Southern States’ steam, the company next door saves money, as well as reduces their environmental footprint by burning far less natural gas.

Seagate Terminals: An Electric Future

Seagate rolled out its first electric forklift in 2020 at the legacy Savannah plant, taking an important first step in the company’s transition to an all-electric fleet. Forklifts are an essential part of Seagate’s business, providing a safe, efficient way to handle a variety of products for customers. Electrifying the entire fleet of lifts will eliminate over 155 tons of CO2 emissions annually from Seagate’s operations.

Seagate is constantly deploying new ways to add value to our customers’ stored products. Reducing carbon emissions in the warehouses by using electric forklifts is a meaningful milestone in the company’s long-term sustainability efforts that will create a greener, more valuable supply chain for customers.

SeaPoint Complex: A New Type of Industrial Complex

Dulany Industries purchased the former Kerr McGee/Tronox Savannah site in 2017 with a vision to transform the site into a sustainable multi-use deep-water industrial complex named the SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex. SeaPoint fully funded a site remediation plan crafted in coordination with the EPA and Georgia EPD, and the cleanup is expected to be complete in 2021.

SeaPoint is creating a new type of industrial complex that encourages innovation, promotes environmental sustainability, and welcomes community partnerships. At the entrance to the SeaPoint site is a 1MW solar array and 3 acre honeybee apiary and pollinator garden. SeaPoint also repurposed an existing on-site R&D facility into the new Cleantech Campus, an incubator for companies and organizations advancing transformative green technologies in manufacturing and logistics.
